Love a black mantle...I painted our living room mantle black (i posted about it if you want to check it out) definitely changes the whole room! I love the distressed look of the inspiration pic but my room was too formal to do that look. Good luck, can't wait to see what you do!

Love the fireplace mantel. That room makes me want to walk in it, take off my shoes, relax and have a good gal pal talk. I love the whole room except for all of the antlers. I hate anything "dead" hanging on walls or sitting around.
I love that too. I just painted the molding and doors in my kitchen/dining area black and LOVE it! The walls are a dark cream color and white trim just didn't work any more. Still have to do the crown molding though, that's next weekend's project. The black is awesome. I'll have to post pics when its done.
