I Confess My Love Of… (A new series)

In light of my blogger’s block I have experienced lately, I thought I would begin a new series. Something to keep me on track for the week.

All day, EVERYDAY, I am constantly thinking of new blog posts. Sometimes I come up with many great ideas in my head, but the research and scanning kind of take the gusto right out of me. Remember, I am still keeping up with school stuff -no fun, and the boys are home for summer, that means craziness at my house.

So, I am starting a new series called

“I confess my love of…”

I said those words several times in my recent kitchen post and they stuck with me! I will confess my love of something every Thursday…I think, if I stay on track that is.

This week I confess my love of:

 Paula Deen

I love her cooking, of course, but have you seen her home?

These pictures are from her magazines in 2006-2007.

paula6

Have you seen that massive fireplace in her kitchen? I would love to cook something in there. Those bricks are just fabulous!

I am totally in love with the brick backsplash. Also, look closely at the cabinet knobs. There are several different styles, but I love the ones the latch together…very unique. Thanks for posing Paula!

paula1

Paula has great taste in fabric colors, texture, and style! Red and greens are my absolute favorites, she must have known!

paula4

Red checked drapes hung on medallions…be still my heart! Silk pillows loaded with fringe make the sofa elegant while still being cozy. I love how she has worked in antiques with new pieces to keep it warm and inviting.

paula2paula3

Okay- I got these as close together as I could. This is a full shot of the living room.  Notice the same brick used on this fireplace surround? True Southern charm and comfort. I could point out so many details, but I will let your eyes wander instead.

Now let’s step into her bedroom. I suppose Paula won’t mind…

paula8

Chocolate brown and mint – my favorite ice cream flavor. The colors looks so beautiful and cozy here in her bedroom retreat.

Say- Do you really think she sleeps here? I wouldn’t want to mess it up.  She probably has a really laid back room, with no pillows and an old quilt thrown on the bed a few doors down the hall.

This is also her room, the side that leads to the outdoor spa and fireplace area. We all have one of those right? Did you notice the antique wooden doors? I would love to have a set like that somewhere in my house. Anyone have some lying around?

 paula7

paula9

Now let’s wander over to her bathroom…hope she is covered up!

paula11That Paula…she’s a hoot! I would never pose in my tub for you guys. Sorry, just not doing it.

Pay close attention to her bathroom cabinets. We need to get Miss Jennifer of The Magic Brush on this job. She can give us step-by-step directions on how to make black and antique gold, super fabulous cabinets.

Ready? They are drop-dead gorgeous!

paula12

I’m in LOVE.

So there you have it. My first post in the series. I sincerely hope you enjoyed the tour. Wish I could have found more pictures of her kitchen, but we get to see that all the time on her show.

Paula, if you happen to stumble upon my humble blog, just know that I am one of your biggest fans!

I love your SUTHERN accent, your silly charm, and your impeccable style.

I will be kicking off my series over at Julia’s place; Hooked on Houses. I might even hop on over to Fifi’s place for Fashionable Fridays. Come join me, let’s go check out what everyone else is loving this week.

Hello! I'm here by way of Fifi's Fabulous Fridays and love your new series. Paula Dean is quite the character, but I've not yet tried any of her recipes. Thank you for featuring photographs of her home, too. It looks as though she has great style! Good luck with your new series. ~Arleen

I love the shot of Paula in the tub -- that's classic!!

Her house is lovely. I had to look closely at the picture of her bathroom cabinets to figure out if that's a mirror hanging in front of a mirror. It is -- and it's great!!

I'd love to have a big fireplace in the kitchen too. Then I'd probably make pizza for supper every day!!

She is such a fun joyful person. Her beach retreat on Tybee Island is for rent, but it looks nothing like this home.

That was great...touring Paula's home. I love red and green together, too! I am soooo loving those red checked drapes! Susan

Oh you are TOO sweet for that shout out!!!!! Will you still love me if I confess to not knowing who Paula Dean is? I take it she is a cook? (which I don't). She is either quite the decorator.... or pays for a good one. Her house is GORGeous!!!!! What a fun tour and post! Love those black cabinets!

I really enjoyed getting a peek into Paula's home - but I'm with you, no way would I ever pose in a bathtub, no matter how contrived the photo!

Love Paula Deen, have tried many times to get tickets to her show.
Did you know that Paula Deen's cousin has a resturant in Marietta.

I have seen these pics before but who could ever tire of them...her house is fabulous! Love your idea of a series...I know what you mean about having great ideas and not being able to pull them off because it is just too time consuming. I have been thinking a lot lately about how to better organize my blogging...a system that makes it all faster!

Hi Misti.
I love the idea of doing a series like this. I may borrow that idea somewhere down the road. ;)
As for the dresser, thank you for you sweet comments. I'm sorry to hear it's tight, but think of how much fun you'll have when you're out there haggling again. ;)
The dresser has gone through a little makeover. I'm gonna reveal her on Monday if you'd like to come back and visit her. (Apparently her curvacious legs make her a girl). Tee hee!
Have a fantastic weekend!

Hi Misti,
I love your idea of expressing what you love. It's another great way to get to know you.

Wow, she's living it up! Good for her! My favorite chef is Morimoto Masaharu, sorry Paula. But my nephew did get married in her restaurant, or rather, had his rehearsal dinner there.

Definitely keep "confessing your love of..."!!! Saves me having to 'confess mine' as I apparently love the same things you do - at least when it comes to decorating. I'm not actually that familiar with Paula Deen... other than having heard of her... Backwoods Canadian I guess! KIDDING! Can't believe I just wrote that! Too obsessed with decorating to even think about cooking... and I wouldn't want to waste a perfectly good obsession by doing so! Keep 'em comin' and I'll keep reading (ravenously!). Thanks AGAIN Misti! ...Tamara :-)

I adore Paula! She's my pretend mama!

Or maybe the sassy lady who lives next door and sometimes bakes cookies for my kids. And then after the kids go to bed we sit outside and drink cocktails and laugh, laugh, laugh.

I'm a freak. I know.
