Quick and Easy Burlap Wall Art

IMG_2744

Hi everybody! Sorry, I have been the worst blogger lately. Fitting in visiting time has been very tough. You are all so much fun to hang out with and yet, I just haven’t had the time. Please forgive me! If you are new here thanks for stopping by, take your time and stay awhile…

I had just a few minutes today to complete a project for my bathroom. There was an oil painting on this wall over the tub, but to prevent it from fading it was moved over to our guest bathroom. Texture without color is just what I wanted to fill this empty space.

While shopping the basement I found an old canvas, a bag full of burlap, scrounged around for some upholstery tacks, and decided on the perfect piece to make an original piece of art.

First I painted over the old canvas. The burlap was a large weave, so the canvas colors were showing through. I suggest painting  it to match the burlap or go black like I did here.

Then, I wrapped the canvas in burlap and stapled it to the back.

Added upholstery tacks every inch and a half…

Then, I measured and marked where I wanted the black art piece to lay on the canvas, and hung it into place over the tub.  Using canvas for this project is smart because the wood frame is made up of soft wood, allowing the staples and tacks to go in easily.

No- the black piece is not centered. That’s the rebel in me.

Oh, by the way…this black thingy used to be white. I worked a little magic on it too.

So since we are on the subject of art, here are a few simple canvas paintings needing to be added to my Etsy store. They are older designs, but have always been some of my top sellers.

Love the rebel in you that didn't center the black thing! I giggled. Apparently burlap is all the rage and I need to "giddy-up". I'm seeing it all over blog-world. Thanks for sharing! HOpe you had a great Memorial Day!

Girl I am so going to enlist in your help in making big initial paintings for the twins. Where can I go to get info on prices for that?
