Clever Ideas for the Kitchen

Somehow, I can never pass up a good kitchen idea book. They call to me…”Misti-you must have me. Please take me home!”

These are two of my favorites and they are loaded with fabulous ideas; plus, I got them for a steal!

$3.99 at the local grocery store. Soft-cover book, not a magazine.

$10.00 and free shipping from the Homestyle Book Club.

I want to share with you some of the clever ideas to bring style and whimsy to your kitchen. You may just find a great idea that you can use today!

Check out how they used this vintage metal piece on the island. I love how it adds texture and interest to the center of the room. We have cabinets on both of the larger sides of our island, but I think I could try this on the smaller sides…love this!

This is a great way to display a collection of plates, tin pans, platters, artwork, photo frames, or my idea would be to display cookbooks. My hard-back cookbooks would add so much color to the room. If only I had more wall space!

Country Living 500 Kitchen Ideas

Another great way to display cookbooks. I have a weathered, red wooden toolbox that I keep a few of my most-used books handy by the stove. I change them out by the season too.

A screen door on the pantry will add a bit of country charm…

Country Living 500 Kitchen Ideas

This is my kitchen in another life…

I love the way they have used the vintage tool box for cooking oils and essentials.

Country Living again

Try this: Attach baling wire to the back splash for an interesting plate rack or spice rack. So clever.

clever2

BHG again

Need more storage space? Dress up inexpensive shelves with paint and fabric to create a one-a-kind masterpiece.

They have attached swing rods to the sides of the cabinets and added fabric for doors. Now that’s clever!

BHG again

Here is a practical and pretty way to house utensils. Insert cup hooks on the underside of the cabinet above the stove, hang a small curtain rod or metal pipe from fabric scraps or jute twine, bend a few forks over the rod (yes, look closer…those hooks are forks) then add utensils and pot holders. Voila!

clever8

BHG again…great book I tell you!

One more idea and it’s a doozie…

Make your own kitchen island with an old dresser!

BHG Kitchen Ideas

This is one of the coolest ideas ever! Goodwill has dressers for under $20 sometimes, or you may have one sitting in the basement and have been thinking about giving it to the next poor soul that needs it. Look at what paint and a few inexpensive accessories can do for your kitchen. They painted, added knobs, cup hooks, and a paper towel holder. The top is tiled, but there are many options for that too. I would love to have this with a stainless steel countertop. Just perfect for chopping and baking cookies!

Now look at the other side…GENIUS!

Perfect for keeping the little ones busy.

You could add a pre-made chalkboard or paint it right on the wood! Now that keeps the kids and Mama happy, right?

I will have more clever kitchen ideas very soon.

Have a great day everyone!

My most favorite has to be the baling wire. Who would have thought of such a neat idea. I'm sure if I tried it, it wouldnt look as good as the pictures. I also love the rustic cabinet above the magazines. Wow!!

Some great ideas!
I like the screen door on the pantry. I was going to do this not long ago. Someone was getting rid of their screen door a very nice old looking door, it was in good shape. I had DH go and get it before the trash people picked it up. I was planning on putting it on my door to the garage but it was too small then after DH had gotten rid of it I had thought about putting it on my pantry to late then. Oh well this has happened to me twice.

Misti

I would say this is my favorite post you have ever done.

I love the iron thingie on the kitchen island wall. (is that a word?) I have perfect iron thingies. So, I will do that!

I also love the wire thingie holding the plates as the "backsplash."

The other ideas are yummy, too. The chest of drawers is so cute. And, I love the chalkboard paint.
