It’s a Toile Party!

Hi everyone!  Come on in whether you are joining from the Ultimate Blog Party or stopping over from the Pretty Organized Palace.

Pretty Organized is having a toile party today and I thought I would post my kitchen again, for those of you who haven’t seen it before. When we moved in to this house I did not want blinds on the windows because we are practically surrounded my woods, but, I do have one neighbor that is fairly close. So, I decided to use inexpensive toile panels from Target for the kitchen windows. They work well with my “Ballard Designs” green walls and can easily be pulled closed in the evening. If you would like to read the original kitchen post click here.

This sweet little gift was made by Kimba over at A Soft Place to land. I was the big winner in her holiday open house giveaway! To see this original post click here. My magnetic memo board is great for leaving myself notes!

And just a couple more things… this tan and cream fabric was once used to cover my fireplace in the Spring and Summer. I just used a simple spring rod and whipped up a no-sew treatment in a matter of minutes. Covering the fireplace with beautiful fabric is a great way to lighten up the room and add color. I wish I had a picture. Maybe I will used it again OR…it could become a pillow for my bed…

Last item- PANTS! My wonderful husband once redeemed his Amex points and got his wonderful wife a $1000 gift card from Sax Fifth Avenue, uh huh…awesome choice for those reward points. These pants were so gorgeous until their first trip to the cleaners, they faded instantly! Some issue with the dye, anyway, I didn’t bother to return them, it wasn’t exactly the easiest trip to make, so I kept them, and someday they too will become a pillow. A very small bolster pillow, but none the less, a pillow.

Look at this print, gorgeous!

Definitely needs to have another life as something! What do you think? Can you give me a clever idea of what to make?

Happy toile hunting!

~Misti

BTW- I am thinking of throwing a linky party about our childhood bedrooms. Anyone interested? I think it would be a blast to take a stroll down memory lane. I found just a few old pictures to scan. Let me know if you are interested!

My goodness, your kitchen is beautiful! My kitchen walls are a similar color (Glidden's Woodland Mystery), but we inherited tiles on the backsplash that totally clash. I keep hoping no one notices.

Your faded pants would make a GREAT pillow!

Faded toile is the BEST!

I love the toile curtains, they work so beautifully with the black furniture pieces. And you're surrounded by woods, how wonderful!

Beautiful! So Southern Elegant! Yes, those toile pants are yummy. Too bad they aren't Plus Size, so there would be more fabric!

You are very talented.

Oh, I forgot: Love the idea of sharing our childhood bedroom pictures. I am giggling thinking about it already.

How lovely! YOur kitchen is darlin' and so...so...clean!!! Love it! And, you're the 3rd toile par-tay I've been to this morning! Rhoda and Southern H. encouraged me to go for some toile fabric with my zebra print that I'm using in my study! They are across the room from each other. Any thoughts?

Hugs,
Susan

Love the pants! I had a cute blue and white toile skirt a few years ago, and a friend at church--male!--referred to it as my curtain skirt!

Hi Misti, the board from Kimba looks beautiful! I love your kitchen. And those pants!! How awesome are they? What a beautiful fabric.... I just love some toile. I was doing a laundry room makeover post today that had some toile in it and then saw your post about the party at Pretty Organized so I joined in. Love the toile.

Your kitchen is beautiful! The window treatments look wonderful. And that wall color is gorgeous. How jealous am I that you won Kimba's board?

I'm glad you kept those groovy pants even though they faded. Gives the fabric an awesome aged look :) You could make a bigger pillow by pairing some of that fabric with a different kind of fabric. Trim it out with coordinating tassel or ball fringe and it will be great!

Love all the toile!! I love seeing how everyone uses it in their decor. Your kitchen is fabulous. I love the green wall color with the black & cream toile. I so need to paint the walls in my house.

I love all your toile and your house is gorgeous! I have some toile capris about the color of your pants, I had forgotten all about them.I'm sad to say I don't think I have a single picture of my childhood bedroom, but I remember it exactly. I wish I had pictures of it!

I just want to come over and sit in your rooms for awhile... so peaceful! And the pants... the PANTS!!! I'd love to find some antique oval picture frames and frame a few of those vinettes (spelling.. who knows). LOVE that fabric! Thanks for enriching all of us today at the party!

I love the pants idea (and points for hubs-wow!) A pillow is good, or even to cut out a panel and frame it. The fabric is beautiful!

Misti, thank you for commenting on my post about toile. My mom found that pillow locally. It has denim fabric on the backside. The dimensions are 8 1/2 by 11 and the letters look like an iron-on transfer. Maybe a crafter made it by hand. You should try to make one for your Abuela.

I love those curtains in your kitchen. They look very Southern.

Hi again Misti... I'm still reading back through your posts and had to add my voice to the chorus of "What a beautiful kitchen"... And I LOVE toile... In just about any colour. I have it in little bits in my present kitchen... Probably because I decorated my kitchen on a super-tight budget. Even in little bits it's wonderful. As for those pants... Did you find that perfect idea yet, I wonder... I'd want something really unique and dramatic... Maybe cut out/around the individual blue 'circle parts'?...Use them in oval frames, or in some way that would let you sorta line them up?...Maybe a vintage brooch centered in each pattern? Oh who am I kidding?! You are MY "Decorating Idol"... You've probably had 10 better ideas since this post. ... Tamara :-)
