This is a story about a dog… and my favorite chair.
It’s about a recliner that doesn’t scream “recliner”. No Archie Bunker or Martin Crane (complete with duct tape) kind of recliner, but a very stylish one. Bought it at the Lane Furniture store, I got to pick out the fabric and everything! Matches my sofa perfectly… can you tell I really like this chair?
What? You see nothing wrong with this chair? That’s called trick photography. Or hiding the flaws. Yesterday, for my pillow parade post I told the world that we do not have many pretty pillows around here…now let me show you why….
Need a closer look?
NICE huh? It’s a good thing that I love this doggie so much! You see, one day when I came home from being gone for a few hours I could see through the pass-through window from my kitchen to family room, my favorite chair was out in the middle of the floor. I was afraid to move any further into the room. I could only imagine why my chair had been dragged to where it was…
My insanely cute puppy had dragged this chair about 5 feet away from where it originally sat in my family room. I guess he was bored.
I was trying not to laugh at the thought of what he had done, and trying not to cry at the same time. He was so happy to see me when I got home, that I had a very hard time fussing at him! What are you gonna do? He was so happy to see me. No complaining, no whining about his day, no fussing about the cats, didn’t ask for food or anything. Just happy that I was home.
So I pushed the chair back, called my husband and gave him the news…and guess what? He laughed too! I’m telling you the thought of this puppy dragging our chair across the room blew us away with laughter!
Let me just add that if your dog ever actually EATS the foam on your furniture to keep him outside for a few hours afterwards…
I had to figure out a way to repair my chair…
Did you know that the extra piece of fabric that comes with furniture is really not meant for a headrest, it is there in case your dog eats your chair!
So I got out my handy staple gun, scissors, and thick foam and fixed it.
Uh huh……….. Cisco tried to help. He really likes foam!
I stuffed in more foam to cover the wood, yes, he chewed down to the wood… I stapled it in place…

Then folded the extra headrest fabric to align the pattern, stapled to the back of the wood, stitched it together, and now it’s back to normal. Let’s see how long it lasts!
And…for those of you who checked out the pillow parade yesterday, here is one I forgot. My mother gave it to me.
I hope this inspires you all who have chewed up furniture to attempt to mend it back to beautiful. Oh, and email me pictures if you do!
Hope you all have a great Wednesday.

I'm totally impressed! I have a chair that my little kitty has made a similar mark on. I have extra fabric. How hard could it be? Well, I thought way too hard until I read this post! You are a miracle worker. What a pretty chair you have and such a loveable pooch!
That pillow "if its not one thing its your mother"...priceless! My mom would totally get a kick out of it too! Thanks for visiting my blog! Im checking out your etsy!
Wow, you did a great job!! I would NEVER have known, seriously. It looks amazing.
I love that pillow!
Your chair looks great! Love the pillows. When our dog was a puppy he chewed through the brand new wires on our home theatre system. I replaced them without telling hubby.
What a great story and such a precious looking dog.
Bless your heart! I understand about those darlin' doggies! Our first lab ate the siding--not vinyl but masonite--off of our first house! But Beau was just so cute....!!!
Hugs,
Susan
Chair looks great!
This is a precious story. Cisco is lucky you used that staple gun only on your chair! Growing up, any time our family would return from being out all day, we'd come home to a pile of every shoe, slipper, and boot the 6 of us owned in the middle of the living room. We tried hiding them in closets, and somehow he could slide open the doors. We always laughed, trying to picture how busy he had to be. Thanks for reminding me!
Cisco rocks! And so do you with your staple gun, scissors and glue gun. Good job!
Great job fixing the chair. I've come to the conclusion that people who do not have dogs, cats, and a house full of boys are living a much cleaner and saner world. I wouldn't trade mine though...even with the chew marks, very dirty shoes, etc.
I think dogs were put on this earth to entertain us. I can only imagine the look on your face when you walked in. :)
Oh my goodness! I can relate to this story!
Now, that pillow is adorable the one about the mother...I NEED That pillow!!!!
Happy Spring, Nancy
You did a great job on the chair.
We have two dogs. One is around 9 year olds and eats toys. The other one is 2.5 and licks my carpet so I have white spots all over the house.
I don't leave my dogs out when we go somewhere I put them in their crate. I just don't trust them and don't have the money to replace what they mess up.
You guys are so funny! Runner Mom he hasn't eaten the siding YET. SoBella, there are so many things that he has destroyed that my husband doesn't know about, Kathy we too have a pile of shoes that have totally disappeared, and to Ally my husband refused to crate him. All in all he is a good dog, just really likes to chew. I could do an entire post on everything he has eaten!

Oh wow....I would have cried! So glad that you fixed it! Looks great, can't even tell.
This post is funny! We have two dogs and are major dog lovers...and have had some experiences. But never had a large chair dragged to the center of a room! I would have been thinking the place was robbed!
Thanks for laughing at my jokes at Hooked On Houses...sometimes people don't think I'm as funny as I think I am!
Tim
Oh no!!
You did a great job saving that.
Oh my goodness, Cisco is really a bad boy..... not really.
What a good job you did on that chair!!! You cannot tell that it was torn.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and taking the time to write me. I really appreciate it and your kind words.
